Day 290 - A Year of Spiritual Awakening - If We Were Not Born...

Lesson 290: If We Were Not Born...

If we were not born, if we didn’t die, there would be no “container” for this particular human lifetime. The finite nature of our lives is what makes them extraordinary.
— Sara Wiseman

Today we are to think about what else we want to experience in this life with the time we have left.

It’s a bit tough to think about how much time we have left when we don’t have the answer as to when we go. Maybe that’s the point of this lesson… because we don’t know the time we have left on this earth, why aren’t we trying to experience as much as we can?

I know I live for experience in my life. I changed my mindset nearly 2 years ago to really start doing things that brought joy into my life. By living this way, I’ve made some interesting progress and realising the only limit in life is myself.

The only thing I really want to do in life is travel to more places in the world to experience the culture. I want to see how other people live, make a better effort in finding a place to volunteer at and enjoy my time learning. I think that’s the only thing I want to truly experience – seeing other cultures and helping others. I also think that I’ll live until I’m quite old so that’s why I think I have so much time left. I don’t necessarily think I have limited time. I think I have plenty of time. Plus, it takes money to travel and I need time to save.

I think what I’ve embracing is my creative side – more so lately than ever before. It was something that was inside of me that I didn’t know I really had. It’s been great being able to express myself. Painting is becoming part of my experience also. I enjoy it very much.

Apart from these things, I can’t really say there is much more I want to experience. I mean, this may change in 5 years, but for now, I’m quite happy where I am in life.

How about you?

Lesson 209: You May See People...

…. Who are uncomfortable in their bodies and those that aren’t. The body is just a container and does not reflect the being inside. Whether someone is fit or someone is plagued with disease, we don’t really know what’s going on internally. Today we are to consider what it means to have a beautiful body and what is considered not attractive.

I don’t really know what is attractive and unattractive these days. When I was growing up there was all this pressure to be skinny. As the years passed, the hourglass body figure became the latest craze, then it was ladies with large bums and then curvaceous women. If I followed suit to every body trend that came about, I would be all over the place. I feel like this leads to confidence and self-esteem issues, body dysmorphia and eating disorders.

I think what’s beautiful is when people are comfortable in themselves because they practise self-love and are confident – no matter what the body type. I just don’t think people should fit to any standard. The only body types I worry about are those that are obese because of the serious health ramifications that it can have. I’m all for body confidence but if there is a serious health risk, then I would want that person to consider their options that would allow them to be healthy again.

Sometimes I look at myself and wonder if I’m truly attractive. There are always those slight moments of self-doubt but I’m sure someone out there appreciates my body type and maybe I haven’t met them yet. I don’t obsess over my looks though. I just try and make myself happy in different ways.

So, what body types do you consider to be attractive and beautiful?

Day 150 - A Year of Spiritual Awakening - The Pleasures of the Body...

Lesson 150: The Pleasures of the Body...

The pleasures of the body are manifold. Many of you are diligent in your pursuit of health, vibrancy, performance. But when the focus is only on the body—when the body is used as a releasing point, instead of the heart—this is not useful to you.
— Sara Wiseman

So, today’s lesson is about release. If you use exercise as a way of release, what happens on all those days that you don’t exercise? If you don’t have the pleasure of physical release what is your alternative? Do you use meditation, prayer or music to release anything that doesn’t serve you well?

I put on some calming music to try and get the noise of my neighbours having sex out of my head, but I also had just done about 10 medium readings for other people and just wanted a pick me up through meditation. I can safely say that it was a bit of a boost as I used breathing technique to accompany it. I didn’t end up getting the sexual noises out of my head – it was so damn loud. But to release, I usually listen to music as well. I need this tool especially as I’m walking to work as I get anxiety sometimes before I need to go. I usually pray before I go to bed just to thank the Universe and anyone in spirit for giving me a good day. I learn from my mother that every day we wake up is a gift so we should appreciate that. So, I just go over all the highlights and be thankful.

What do you do for release from the heart? And what methods do you use?

Day 149 - A Year of Spiritual Awakening - The Body is a Container

Lesson 149: The Body is a Container...

The body is a container for the soul; yet it also is an energetic Universe. Without support: nutrition, exercise, sleep, touch, love, the body cannot thrive as its own Universe.
— Sara Wiseman

Today we are to note how we treat our bodies. Do you take care of your body and do you notice if it is telling you to do something in particular today? Are there times when you obsess about your body and maybe mistreat it? Ask yourself if this is required?

I probably need some work on my body in terms of keeping it fit and healthy. I admit I struggling committing to an exercise regime and good eating plans. I don’t obsess about my body like I used to. I think I’m the largest I have ever been, and yet, I accept my body more now than I ever have. Sure, I have extra weight and curves where I don’t really want them, but I know if I want to change it, I should do regular exercise and eat better to get rid of it. I mean, I have body confidence issues from a young age, though I feel I can look in the mirror and be okay with myself now. Wouldn’t have been able to do that at a young age.

I try and be good in recognising any aches and pains and following that up. I have a back issue, shoulder issue and vertigo which I am currently trying to address with an osteopath. I have mild IBS which I have had diagnosed and know the treatment, though I love food too much to try and follow a strict diet. I think all those times I ignored the pain in my body, has escalated into issues now which include polyp growths in my bowels and gall bladder. This is why I don’t neglect myself now. Even regularly going to the dentist and flossing my teeth was hard to establish, but after a root canal that led to me having to lose a tooth, it was a wakeup call to look after myself better.

I am aware of what I need to do but I sometimes fail. What do you recognise that you do to your body?
