Glossybox - April

20120506-174700.jpg

I received my April Glossybox in May so I've tried to test out the products before submitting my review. I was fairly impressed with the selection apart from the fact I was sent 2 moisturizers which I thought was a tad bit silly. I received a nail polish, gel eye liner and rose hip skin care oil. In addition to this I received a 15% off integrity cosmetics voucher and $25 voucher for the Iconic

I am currently wearing the Blush amour Sunset in paradise nail polish I received. This normally costs $4.95 and can be bought from their website.

In the picture the colour looks like a coral red - almost tangerine as well. At the time they did look more orange than red. Now, when I look at my nails, it looks like strawberry red. I'm thinking it changes colour depending on the light. I have never heard of this brand before, but I find that the nail polish glides on smoothly and evenly. It also dries fast which is always a bonus. I think it's a cute colour and works well with my skin tone.

The two moisturizers I received was an Orange and Bergamot sensitive skin cream from Redwin and a Protecting moisturizer from Integrity.

20120506-214153.jpg

Redwin is endorsed by our very own Jennifer Hawkins. I thought it might have a strong fruity scent but the scent is ever so gentle. Redwin create products especially for sensitive skin and use organic products. Integrity did not have the most pleasant smell. It's probably because of the ingredient mixture of kelp extract, flaxseed oil, aloe vera, chamomile and green tea. The ingredients themselves are good for your body. Together, it just doesn't smell that great to me. I will continue to use these products but for now will say that they are like any other moisturizers to me. If I notice any significant changes in my skin, I'll share it but in general I find that they all do the same job and it just comes down to preference.

What I am really excited about to use is the Rosehip Organic Skincare 7 precious oils. It is meant to revitalize the skin and eradicate scars, spots, burns etc to give the skin it's natural feel and glow.

20120506-215834.jpg

I am going to implement this into my daily beauty routine and see if I can reduce the spots/scars on my cheeks and chin. Will definitely keep you posted on how it goes.

And, last but not least Mirenesse Tight Liner which is a Hydra gel eye liner. It comes in a pen and feels like you are using liquid liner but sets as a gel eye liner. It is also smudgeproof which is very handy. I received the shade Saphire Blue (yes they spelled Sapphire wrong).

It was easy to apply and I am totally a sucker for packaging. I like blue eyeliners but I know they aren't for everyone. I like that it doesn't smudge. Wore this all day and it didn't smudge - even when I went to rub my eyes because I was tired. Works like magic! I think I have found my new brand of eyeliner :D

So, there you have it - Glossybox April.

Hello Kitty Shine and Kiss - Pink Floyd

20120506-185928.jpg

So, I bought this lipstick because it was a bright hot pink and would look good with some bold make-up. I also bought it because it was Hello Kitty brand. Upon wearing it I found it to be very moisturizing on the lips and did not crack when wearing it.

It holds it's color and texture and every time you butt your lips, it maintains it's moisturizing feel.

Here is a pic I took in the bathroom. The lighting is warm and it didn't show the full brightness of the lipstick I found.

20120506-190341.jpg

I used Instagram to blur everything out but my lips - this is because I have bad skin at the moment. You can see in this pic that the colour isn't as bold as it appears. It almost looks like a sweet light pink lipstick but it is far from it. I, then proceeded to my bedroom that had brighter lighting.

20120506-190504.jpg

Can you see the difference? This brighter lighting is the true colour of this lipstick. It has a slight purple tinge to the hot pink colouring. I am going to wear this lipstick to a birthday party this weekend and keep the eyes simple because the lipstick is the main display. I feel that if I overdo the eyes, then it will make my whole face look over the top and we wouldn't want that now do we?

I bought this from Priceline for $12.95. I haven't seen this in any other retail stores at this stage. I am having difficulty finding this sold worldwide. I know that MAC came out with their Hello Kitty range which may be discontinued as Sephora have the collection now. You can still buy Hello Kitty MAC products on EBay as far as I can tell. There is no confirmation online that MAC is still producing the make-up.

I can't wait to show you my outfit this weekend and display my make-up for you. I do really love this lipstick and it's great to wear with candy colored outfits also :D Good for an 80s outfit also ;)

Will keep you updated...

P.S Excuse my huge nostrils - Thank goodness there was nothing up there

My Favourite Eyeliner Right Now....

Right now, I am loving the Gel Eyeliners. I find that it's easy to apply, it sets very nicely and does not smudge.

It's an alternative to liquid eye liner for those who don't like or have not mastered the application with liquid liners. I feel you can still get the same effect with gel liners as you do liquid.

I have been using Maybelline's Eye Studio Lasting Drama in Black. I find that I can get a nice dramatic effect on my eyes.

I bought mine for about $15-$20(can't remember) but managed to find some stores online that sell it for $10 - Amazon, CVS Pharmacy, Drugstore.com, Bloom.com, Walgreens, Purchase Direct - just to name a few.

It's perfect to wear on it's own or if you want to make a bold statement with your eye make-up.

I think I have officially ditched all other eye liners for gel - I love it!

Bellabox - April

20120501-221610.jpg

Subscribed to another Beauty Box - Bellabox. Was excited about choosing this service because of the brands on offer. I've got to say that I wasn't overly impressed by what I received as I felt it didn't take into consideration my beauty profile.

This is what I received:

20120501-222059.jpg

I received some comvita facial samples which was ok because it's an expensive brand. I also got a $2 Ulta3 nail polish in burnt orange which I already bought on a prior occasion. There was a DKNY perfume spray which is good for a quick carry spray to freshen up. The heel cushions would be worthwhile but I don't really go clubbin that often to make full use of it. The benefit hello flawless foundation would have been perfect if they didn't send me the darkest colour imaginable. The only item I could benefit from is the OP Therapy Body Hydrator which is a body cream for sensitive skin. It doesn't have the most pleasant smell but is useful because I do get allergic reactions to some products.

I'm hoping this beauty box offers a better range for the month of May as my excitement was dampened by what I got sent. I looked online and found that some people would have received aromatherapy oils which I probably would have liked because I like filling my room with natural, calming scents.

I brought you this post so you could see what was inside and make a judgment on whether you would like it or not. Hopefully next month my beauty profile is taken into consideration when they send me products involving skin colour. Sorry if this seems like a rant but I guess I was expecting more quality when I subscribed to this brand. Will keep you updated once my new beauty box has arrived. Crossing my fingers that May brings some worthwhile products :)

Ciao!!

Loreal - Glam Shine Reflexion

Had an amazing day today with my bestie and we went to a local market - Conventry Square. Lots of stalls selling make-up and accessories and we found a place selling cheap cosmetics.

I found Loreal's Glam Shine - Reflexion in Sheer Watermelon for $4!!

20120429-192919.jpg

The brush on this lipgloss is amazing! It's so soft and glides on like a cushion to your lips :) It is probably the weirdest feeling because I am used to sturdy, hard lipgloss brushes but this was smooth and spongey - probably why it's called reflexion because of the way the lip brush flexes to the shape of your lips. It leaves a glittery, light pinky colour on your lips with a non-sticky texture and wet shine look. Perfect for everyday wear or when you're out and about. It also leaves a fruity scent which is refreshing but I couldn't say it was watermelon (probably my sense of taste and smell failing me).

20120429-193601.jpg

I only bought the one lipgloss because I wasn't fond of the other colours on sale. This lipgloss usually retails for about $10 from regular cosmetic shops and pharmacies.

It was a great find and I wanted to share it with everyone :)

Update: This what the gloss looks like close up

20120430-220417.jpg

Sorry for the bad image with my bad skin. As you can see its very subtle in colour with a pinky orange tint. It has a soft glitter finish and good for wearing everyday to plump your lips.

20120430-221704.jpg

In this pic, which I took at work, you can see it's a bit more reddy pink. I guess it depends on the lighting and how many layers you wear but it's not that bright in colour. It's a very soft and natural colour. I like the gloss because you can match it with any sort of make-up and outfit because it's not that bright. It appears like a pinky coral colour in the gloss pot and is not over the top in appearance. Hope my pics give you an idea of what the gloss will look like against your lips and skin tone :)
